Rules
The Rules of GAA Predictions game are simple - you predict the scores of GAA Hurling and Football games for the 2009 championship to gain points. Predictions for each fixture need to be made one hour before the fixture starts.
How Scoring works
You get points for predicting the correct result and also for predicting the correct margin. The points you get for predicting the correct result is based on the odds for the team you are predicting.
If you get the margin correct you get an extra 2 points. If you are ambitious enough to go for a draw in any fixture you will get 15 points.
If for any reason you do not fill in predictions for a set of fixtures you be assigned a random prediction after the last update time for the fixture has passed.
Overall Scoring
Scores for users are calculated at the end of each championship weekend. Scores are then consolodated at the end of each month and finally at the end of the season. Prizes may be offered throughout the season for monthly winners and overall winner. The following will be used as criteria to decide on the winner in order:
- The player with the highest number of points
- The player that has predicted the most results correct
- The player that has predicted the most results and margins correct
- If it is still tied at this stage one of the leading players will be selected at random
Drawn Games
All predictions are made for 70 minutes of Hurling or Football. In the event of a draw there are two possible scenarios:
- Extra Time: If the game is to be decided by extra time the result of the game is considered to be a draw and any user that has predicted a draw will get the 15 points for the draw. Users that predict the eventual winner after extra time will not be awarded points
- A Replay: If the game is to be replayed any user that has predicted a draw will get the 15 points for the draw. The rescheduled fixture may be added to the fixture list again and in this case the users inital predication will be carried to the second fixture but users will have the option to change their prediction before the game starts.
